Entel offers the widest network with the best reach across the country's long geography.
Chile has strong 4G and a growing 5G network across Santiago, Valparaiso, Concepcion and the main cities, and is among the better connected countries in Latin America. Entel carries the widest coverage, including much of the long central valley and the main highway spine. The realistic weak spots are the Atacama desert interior, Patagonia's far south, the Andes high passes and remote areas such as parts of Torres del Paine, where signal disappears between towns. For the cities and the main routes, connectivity is dependable.
Typical local SIM: $8-20. Usually sold at operator stores, shopping centres and convenience shops; airport counters at Santiago. Chilean SIMs are cheap and relatively easy to buy with a passport. A travel eSIM still wins for short trips by working the moment you land, useful given the long distances between regions.
For a touring trip a travel eSIM is the simplest call. For a long stay a local Entel SIM is cheap per gigabyte.

It is the median price per GB of mid-tier plans in the live Chile catalogue. Small 1 GB teasers and 50 GB or larger bulk plans are excluded so the figure reflects a typical traveller choice.
The page shows the current 5G coverage indicator, a transparency score and the main local operator. These are destination-level signals, not a guarantee for every street or device.
The decision section compares the practical trade-offs. A travel eSIM is usually simpler for a short visit; a local SIM can make sense when you need a local number, longer service or local pricing. Check the current conditions before deciding.
